Finding the extraordinary in the ordinary.

Hi, I’m Elizabeth!

Her “Why”:

Elizabeth knows firsthand how beautiful and difficult it can be to experience the world differently than others. As someone who was always considered or called "sensitive", Elizabeth has found that her passion is to help those who have experienced the world in this way—looking to bring more clarity, understanding and acceptance of self into their lives. As a late diagnosed and identified neurodivergent (AuDhD) therapist, battling with her own chronic illness, her goal is to empower clients who may also experience the world from this viewpoint & for them to feel less alone.

How?

No two people are alike, especially when involving individual needs and concerns. Being a “neurodivergent" advocate, counselor and credentialed Art Therapist, allows Elizabeth to work with a personal understanding with those who may need a non-traditional approach in therapy or work-place dynamics; because some days we need to create and other days we need to regulate! Throughout treatment, Elizabeth’s goal is to help others by supporting self-exploration in order to build confidence, seek possible accommodations/diagnoses, manage any related chronic illness, and identify coping strategies for when life feels a bit too much.

Experience:

Elizabeth is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Registered Art Therapist (ATR), earning a dual Master of Arts degree in Clinical Counseling and Art Therapy from Wayne State University, located in Detroit, Michigan.

Over the last 10 years, Elizabeth has gained therapeutic skills and knowledge from working in hospitals, residential treatment facilities, outpatient centers and early intervention clinics, which included providing:

  • Inclusive, Strength-based, Neuro-affirming therapy for neurodivergent individuals across the lifespan (including self-identifying late diagnosed adults)

  • Coping through grief and loss related to chronic illnesses and/or management of complex pain related to: autoimmune disorders, genetic disorders, developmental differences, disabilities, and Cancer

  • Trauma informed care across the lifespan; not limited to adverse childhood experiences

  • Outreach Presentations on Art Therapy & Mental Health

  • Clinical Supervision for limited licensed professional counselors and provisional art therapists in the state of Michigan

"I believe that any therapeutic process or relationship is fostered by building upon a trusting and empathetic relationship. Change is hard, even if it is a “positive” one, and asking for help should not feel burdensome. I’ve found that having a person to process life with, that has no biased opinions and a lending ear, can be a validating and empowering experience. I aim to provide a safe space and be my client’s confidant.

As your therapist, I hope I can be that person."
